Who We Are

Open Studio Works is an independent publishing brand operated by Mike Zaengle, based in Sacramento, California. You can reach us at mike@openstudioworks.com.

The Waitlist

When you submit your email address through the waitlist form on this site, you are agreeing to receive a single notification email when Open Studio becomes available for purchase. You are not subscribing to a newsletter, marketing list, or ongoing communications. You will receive one email. That's it.

You can remove yourself from the waitlist at any time by emailing mike@openstudioworks.com with the subject line "Remove me."

We will never sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties for marketing purposes.

Products

Open Studio is a physical workbook — 8.5 × 11 inches, wire-o bound, 93 pages, black and white interior with a full-color matte cover. Product descriptions on this site are accurate to the best of our knowledge. Minor variations in color, binding, or finish may occur due to the print-on-demand production process.

All prices are listed in US dollars. We reserve the right to change pricing at any time prior to a purchase being completed.

Orders and Payment

When you place an order through this site, you are making an offer to purchase the product at the listed price. We reserve the right to refuse or cancel any order at our discretion.

Payment is processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your payment information. By placing an order you agree to Stripe's terms of service.

Your order is confirmed when you receive a confirmation email from us. This confirmation constitutes acceptance of your offer.

Fulfillment and Shipping

Orders are fulfilled through a third-party print-on-demand service. Production typically takes 3–5 business days. Shipping time varies by destination and carrier.

Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on your location. We ship to addresses within the United States. International shipping availability will be noted at checkout when applicable.

We are not responsible for delays caused by carriers, customs, or circumstances outside our control. If your order is lost or damaged in transit, contact us at mike@openstudioworks.com and we will work with you to resolve it.

Returns and Refunds

Because Open Studio is a print-on-demand product produced specifically for each order, we are unable to accept returns or exchanges.

If your book arrives damaged or defective, contact us within 14 days of delivery at mike@openstudioworks.com with a photo of the damage. We will send a replacement at no charge.

If you have not received your order within 21 days of your confirmation email, contact us and we will investigate.

Intellectual Property

All content on this site — including text, design, images, and the Open Studio workbook itself — is owned by Mike Zaengle and Open Studio Works. Nothing on this site may be reproduced, distributed, or used commercially without written permission.

Purchasing the book grants you a personal, non-commercial license to use the exercises for your own creative practice. It does not grant rights to reproduce, distribute, teach from, or create derivative works based on the book's content.

Privacy

We collect only what we need. For the waitlist, that means your email address. For purchases, that means your name, email address, and shipping address.

We use your information to fulfill your order, send you the notification you signed up for, and communicate about your purchase if needed. We do not sell your data.

This site uses cookies and third-party services including Squarespace and Stripe, each of which has its own privacy policy. Email addresses are managed through Kit (ConvertKit).

This site and its contents are provided as-is. We make no guarantees about the availability, accuracy, or completeness of any content on this site.

Open Studio is a creative workbook. Results from using the exercises vary by individual. We make no guarantees about outcomes, creative development, or any specific result from using the book.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Open Studio Works and Mike Zaengle shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of this site or purchase of our products. Our total liability for any claim related to a purchase shall not exceed the amount you paid for that purchase.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Sacramento County, California.
